This original black blossom artwork was a small sketch made in preparation for my larger scale blossom-themed drawings and prints.
I am obsessed with painting blossom. In Japanese culture blossom represents the fragility and the beauty of life. The delicate, pretty flowers serve as a reminder that life can be beautiful but that it is also short.
The hand-painted black and white postcard was created using a very small Japanese calligraphy brush on 100% Cotton Rag Hahnemuhle etching paper.
