A eucalyptus sprig is a favourite subject of my drawings. One I return to often.

The eucalyptus is a holy tree for the Aboriginals. For them it represents the division of underworld, Earth and heaven. It is thought that eucalyptus has purifying qualities and negative energy disappears where you burn a eucalyptus leaf.

This eucalyptus ink sketch is part of my preparatory drawings for larger ink artworks. The hand-painted postcard was created using a Japanese calligraphy brush on 100% Cotton Rag Hahnemuhle etching paper.

This original one-off botanical artwork is signed and dated by the artist (me)
