This Pomes Flixus A1 fine art print is taken from book cover artwork I created for MW Bewick’s poetry collection Pomes Flixus.
The piece is printed on professional quality 310 gsm Hahnemühle German Etching paper, in a large A1 format. In bright shades of yellow, magenta and mint, contrasted with black and white, this vibrant artwork was originally created using layers of POSCA paint marker.
I worked very closely with Bewick on the artwork. The poems in Pomes Flixus are a collision of constantly shifting perspectives and descriptive transitions that transport the mind to unexpected places, undercut preconceptions and arrive, often poignantly, in non-culminations.
I didn’t want to be too illustrative for fear of defining any aspect of the book. So these abstract art pieces are conceptual. I really ran with the idea of both collision and transport. I was drawn to the concept of travel lines or wires of communication clashing, overlapping and contrasting.
The limited edition fine art print is signed and numbered and will be delivered rolled up in a hard cardboard tube with an artist’s note.
You can hear a poem from the book and see how I created another smaller one of these ‘collision’ abstract art pieces for the collection.
