My PORT Palimpsest III piece is part of a series of hand-painted abstract artworks. They originally made as preparatory work for illustrations for a book, PORT; an anthology looking at the subject of ports.
The publication essentially explores places where ‘here’ contacts ‘there’; where known and unknown meet; where perceptions of possible experience are expanded. So I approached these compositions as palimpsests; each quick application of ink acting as layers of stories, activities and histories coming together.
The piece was created in black ink with Japanese calligraphy brushes, feathers and fine ink pen. I’m selling three of these artworks here. They have been produced with Indian ink on 350gsm, 100% Cotton Rag Hahnemuhle etching paper. Each black and white artwork is signed and dated.
