Description

“The Observations of Angelus Novus, Rave” fine art print is a celebration of decadence, fun and good times.

In bright, vibrant, neon tones, this abstract artwork bursts with life and energy.

The expressive abstract piece was originally created with handmade can pens, ink pens and Japanese calligraphy brushes. Contemporary and affordable, this limited edition fine art print is A5 in size and will fit standard frames.

The colourful art work is printed on 300gsm Tintoretto Gesso FSC paper stock. This stock has a lightly hammered surface texture that gives the print a luxe, tactile finish and allows the inky fine line detail to be seen clearly on the page.

Prints are signed and numbered with a note from the artist.

My new ink on paper series “The Observations of Angelus Novus” was influenced by philosopher Walter Benjamin’s concept of the Angel of History. Benjamin took “Angelus Novus” (New Angel), a 1920 monoprint by the artist Paul Klee as his inspiration in his essay “Theses on the Philosophy of History”…

“A Klee painting named Angelus Novus shows an angel looking as though he is about to move away from something he is fixedly contemplating. His eyes are staring, his mouth is open, his wings are spread. This is how one pictures the angel of history. His face is turned toward the past. Where we perceive a chain of events, he sees one single catastrophe which keeps piling wreckage upon wreckage and hurls it in front of his feet. The angel would like to stay, awaken the dead, and make whole what has been smashed. But a storm is blowing from Paradise; it has got caught in his wings with such violence that the angel can no longer close them. The storm irresistibly propels him into the future to which his back is turned, while the pile of debris before him grows skyward. This storm is what we call progress.”
